Keeping A Journal For Personal Growth

When I first decided to go on my personal growth journey I listened to a lot of advice and I read through a lot of books. I read books from spiritual, religious, new-age, science, and wealth. My goal was to find the best method I could find to make some real and lasting changes in my life. I discovered that keeping a journal was the best way to develop my own personal growth.When you decide to keep a journal for yourself what you are doing is basically keeping a record of not just what your day was about but also what your days will be. This is what makes it different from what you may already be keeping.The reason why you are including both is because if you focus too much on the present or the past you might lose sight of the “possibilities” it is these possibilities that move us forward in our growth.It is the possibilities that become our driving force of change and prosperity as well as growth.You will see it suggested in almost all the different types of books on personal growth to write something down that you either want or that inspires you. Some suggest pinning it up so you can read it every day, some suggests memorizing it so you can repeat it throughout the day and some suggest writing it down every day.In my own experience I have found that rewriting it every day was the most effective way for me to plant the idea in my mind. As I was writing it that was all I could think about, the words that I was putting down on paper. It started to become real to me, so real that I could feel it.For you, you may find one of the other methods more powerful but I would strongly suggest you give keeping a journal a viable option.When you first write in your journal you can start with whatever is on your mind. Be honest with your feelings. After you have written down what is on your mind. Close it. Take a moment to just breathe and focus on your breathing and when you are done go back and read it.Listen to your voice on the pages, you can tell a lot about where you are in your life by doing this. Next, you should write what you want or what your expectations for your life are. Write something that inspires you and can drive you towards change.
