Home Based Business – If You Love Your Family, Don’t Do It

In today’s day and age it’s not uncommon to see literally thousands of home based business opportunities available for the average individual. Each one promising rich rewards like fast cars, big homes, and lots and lots of money. Are they for real? Yes. The real question you should ask though, is a home based business the right opportunity for you? Be careful in your analysis. Many a family has been torn apart because one member thought they could do it and were ready to invest the family savings, but really weren’t prepared for what that means. If you really love your family, don’t start a home based business, unless you’re ready to come to the table with these three qualities. Dedication

Many people come into the home based business industry saying -œI think I’ll give this a try.- If that’s your attitude, this is definitely not for you. Starting your own business requires serious dedication. In fact, it will require more dedication than you’ve ever put forward in anything else you’ve done in your life. What I’m talking about is sacrifice. The sacrifice of turning off the TV when you come home from your day job in order to build your business. The sacrifice of giving up some of your weekend for dedicating time to build your business. The sacrifice of delayed gratification for that new thing you want to buy, and instead reinvesting your money into your business. It’s been said that where we are today is a result of decisions we made yesterday. And decisions you make today will definitely determine where you are tomorrow. It may sound cliché, but you need to be willing to give 110% in order to succeed in a home based business. You need to be willing to do things that other people don’t in order to have things that other people won’t. Don’t bother telling your family that this time you’re going to do it, if you really haven’t prepared them for the sacrifices you’ll be making in order to achieve top earner results. Realistic Expectations Home based businesses opportunities come with all kinds of promises. We’ve all seen the pictures of big homes and flashy cars and big piles of money. Do people really achieve these things? Absolutely. But, it doesn’t happen overnight. The best thing you can do for yourself is set realistic expectations, and the best way to do that is by building an appropriate business plan. You shouldn’t have to start from scratch though. When looking at your next home based business opportunity, you want to find someone who has achieved results that you want to achieve and then mirror their business plan. Your sponsor should be able to show you the documented results for their marketing system, i.e., the number of lead/prospects derived for a specific marketing system, and then the conversion rate of those leads into sales. You should then be able to accurately figure out how much time/money it will take for you to achieve your specific result. If your sponsor can’t show you this information, then you may want to reconsider the home based business opportunity you’re looking at. When you have your plan, this is something you can share with your spouse/family to help them understand what it will take for you to build your home based business. Coachable You must be willing to be coachable. What this means is you are willing to put aside your ego and any unfounded thoughts and ideas you may have about your business opportunity. You must be willing to take the lead of people who have come before you and generated the success you’re looking for. Following their example is the blueprint to your success. You must be willing to take on all activities that are recommended for you. Read the books that they recommend you to read. Take the training that they recommend you take. If today you are not earning five or six figures per month, it’s because of the habits you’ve developed in your life. You must be willing to take on new habits in order to succeed. Be coachable and follow the example of those who have achieved results you want. If you do you absolutely will achieve the success that they have achieved. There are new people starting a new home based business opportunity every day. Maybe you’ve never tried one, or maybe you’ve tried many. Regardless, you want to make sure you’re ready, and that you’ve fully prepared your family. Don’t do it though if you’re not serious and in it for the long haul. You can achieve incredible results is you are dedicated, set realistic expectations, and you’re coachable. Remember, if you do the same thing today that you did it yesterday, then your tomorrow will be just like your today. You have to do something different to get something different.
