Massage Marketing for the Holidays

I’ve been a massage therapist now for almost 5 years and in the past have tried several different things. This year I am placing an ad in the newspaper for packages of massage gift certificates and mailing out newsletters by email and snail mail. In these newsletters I am offering packages of 12 massages or 3 massages for a discount price. They are non-refundable and have to be used within 6 months of purchase for the 3 packs and use 1 per month for the 12 packs. I also offer a $5.00 off discount for individual sessions when mentioning when ordering by phone or bring in the newsletter when making any a purchase of massage from my clinic. This year I am trying something new and exciting. Instead of giving out magnets or calendars I am offering a free 15 minute gift certificate with every purchase made. The key to this is that the certificate is for the person who made the purchase to give to someone that has never had a massage from me before. This gives them an extra gift to give and helps to bring me a new potential client. On the certificates for 15 minutes it is stated that they are only for someone who has never had a massage with me before and that they have to call to schedule the session at a time when I will already be in the office with other appointments, so that I am not driving in to my clinic just to give a free massage since I live kind of far away. The certificates also mention that they can use the value towards a longer session and the value is $13.50 I mention this to them when the people call to schedule and also at the end of a session for the free 15 minute massage if I happen to have time to go longer. That way they can try out my services and decide if they enjoy it to go longer before spending money when they might now be sure if my pressure or skills are going to be ok for them.Another thing I want to mention is that you shouldn’t be afraid to offer gift certificates for massage that are at a greatly reduced price. Most of the time people do not redeem them so you are going to come out ahead by offering them and sell alot more certificates. This isn’t guaranteed but it has proven to be true every year so far that I have tried it.
